‘You’re a monster’ for wearing doll makeup

“You are a monster,” a young girl in a wheelchair told a police officer after she was handcuffed and led away from a mall in Atlanta.
She was just 14 years old, but she was a teenager for the police.
The incident came after a woman in New Jersey, who was arrested for wearing makeup, told officers she was being targeted for being a woman.
In a video posted on Twitter, the young girl said: “I just want to say I was walking down the street, and I was just like, ‘Oh my God, I see this.’
I mean, it was like, I saw this person with this makeup on.”
But the video, which was recorded by a bystander and then shared online, was edited and has been deleted.
The young girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was taken to a local police station, where she was told she had to leave her face uncovered in public, as well as her clothes and shoes, because she was “not a person of color”.
Police in Atlanta told NBC 5 that the girl was being questioned about wearing makeup in a public place.
“She was handcuffed, she was led out of the mall, she’s been arrested, she will be charged with a crime,” said Atlanta Police Officer David Jones.
“This was not a criminal incident.”
Atlanta Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
In an interview with ABC News, the girl’s mother said she was not aware that she was under arrest.
She told the station: “They took my daughter out of her home, they took her into a police station.
I don’t know how they do that, I don, I can’t comprehend that.
I just don’t understand.”ABC News’ Brian Hochman contributed to this report.
